Preston International School held its very first exclusive Christmas Concert on the 15th of December, 2010.  In previous years, the Christmas presentations were done alongside the prize-giving ceremony.  This year was different as it was not only an evening affair but the programme was quite elaborate and extremely intriguing.

The concert kicked off around 6.00 pm. with the opening song 'O Come All Ye Faithful' and the opening prayer which was said by Rev. Paul Olofa.  The newly formed Salem Academy of Music orchestra thrilled the audience to the harmonious rendition of Sussex Carol, In the Bleak Midwinter and It Came Upon The Midnight Clear.  There were three Bible readings during the course of the evening.  These were taken by Bishop Ketiku, Pastor Ibitokun and Dr.(Mrs.) Fakunle - all Prestonian parents.

Some of the songs rendered were:  I Saw A Maiden, O Thou That Tellest by G.F. Handel, O Christmas Tree, Ding Dong Merrily On High, Christmas Calypso, E'Fiyin F'Oluwa, Deck The Hall which was beautifully rendered by the senior school students.  Other were Give The World A Smile by the brass players, Wondrous Story which was sung by Preston's own exclusive Staff Choir, O holy Night - a solo by music teacher Mrs. Juliet Amobi before the proprietor thrilled the audience with two special traditional numbers - Were Lo Bamise and Peregede La O Ye on his clarinet.  The last section featured a Christmas message given by Rev. Akin Ajayi a senior minister at the Apostolic Faith Church which was titled 'Great Joy'.  This was followed by the fantastic rendition of God's Choir, Joy To The World, We Wish You A Merry Christmas and Hallelujah Chorus.  Our invited school - Federal Government Girls College - thrilled the audience as they rendered a beautiful song titled 'Born In A Manger'.  After the closing prayer had been given Prestonians surprised the audience with the impromptu rendition of 'God Na Helele' such that the members of the audience were rooted and it took so much persuassion to lead them to the guests reception and buffet which had been tastefully put together by the Catering Department.

Without doubt, this was a night that will be remembered for many years to come.  It is also a start as we hope to continue staging the concert annually with much improved performance year on year by the budding, talented group of students popularly referred to as 'Prestonians'!
